Fingerprint imaging is an accepted international standard for the identification of individuals. The SFIS implemented digital fingerprint imaging and digital photo imaging, providing state and county welfare agencies with a means of eliminating duplicate aid, identifying fraud and incorrect payments due to administrative errors.
